Bounded creativity

Just about everyone views rhyming as creative. Rhyming is, by definition, bounded and constrained. If you remove the constraint, you're not rhyming anymore and it's not nearly as creative because you're just talking. Everyone talks and it's no big deal. So given that knowledge, why do people think it's better to be creative without constraints?

PS - From our boundaries comes our greatest creativity.
PPS - Because without boundaries, nothing is impressive.

I think everything has rules and boundaries inherent in the medium it's presented in. And as Morpheus would say: Some can be bent, others can be broken.

While that's true, in some cases the boundaries are not obvious. I've never looked at the blank sheet of paper in front of me and seen its edges or its two-dimensionality as a boundary. Perhaps what we need to do is articulate the boundaries we are working within to help spark our creativity sometimes.
