Evil has no friends. Anyone evil is aligned against everyone else for one reason or another, leaving them completely alone in the end. There may be an alliance, and it may even be for mutual benefit, but you cannot count on an evil ally to knowingly stand up for you to their own peril. Evil is out for number one all the time, and altruism is just nonsense to them. Given that, when faced with a choice of saving themselves or saving an ally, evil chooses itself.
